Higher School of Design of Aragón, in Spain, will hold the second edition of the ESDA Social Design Days, next 11th and 12th May, hosted by its ESDA DESIS Lab.

With its increasing quantity and quality of projects in the field of social design and design for social innovation and sustainability, ESDA has proposed a new edition of this international event that will bring to Zaragoza great experts such as Ezio Manzini and Nikos Souleles.

The event constitutes an opportunity to reflect on educational intervention in Social Design, Design for Social Innovation and Activist Design. Students, professors, researchers, and interested organizations will share their knowledge and experiences at these fields.

Currently, ESDA students are participating in three new projects at the DESIS Lab: “Caídos del Zielo”, a proposal for social theater with homeless people directed by Félix Martín; redesign and humanization of spaces at the juvenile detention center / young offenders’ institution; and the project “ESDA-Refugees: Cultural identity through photography and fashion design”, inspired by a recent collaboration with Francesco Mazzarella, from the Centre for Sustainable Fashion (CSF), a UAL research centre based at London College of Fashion.

The second edition of ESDA Social Design Days will end on Saturday 13th, with a special presentation of the Spanish version of the latest book from Ezio Manzini: “Livable proximity: Ideas for the City that Cares”.
